Trimming Kinky Coily Hair

Yes trimming your own ends can be a lengthy task, but it feels so rewarding once you finish and see how much better your hair looks without those knots, tangles, and split ends. I usually trim mine as I'm putting my hair in twists or locs; or as I'm taking them out, it just depends on if it's really needed at the time.  Before combing out the sections, I apply small mist of water, followed by leave-in conditioner, make sure the entire section is coated and pliable, while combing out the sections, I stretch out the hair, holding the strands in between the index and middle finger, then cut the end sections with a good sharp pair of shears, if you don't have shears, you can use sharp office scissors, just make sure they are not dull or rusty. I continue this process until the whole head is complete, depending on what is done to my hair determines how often I trim, generally no more than 4 times a year while trimming off 1/4 of an inch, or if stretched longer like twice a year then I would trim off 1/2 an inch; the point is I try to take care of my hair well enough to where I'm only losing an inch a year.
